Hello! My name is Kaychel Boone or Kay for short.
While I studied graphic design at Bowling Green State University, most of my work experience is in early education.
I have been working as an Academic Interventionist (or AI for short) for Detroit Public Schools for 2 years. This past school year I worked with kindergarteners, helping to improve their reading and writing skills.
As an AI, I provide additional support in the classroom. During my day I work closely with teachers, the Assistant Principal and most importantly the students to help fill in the gaps. I make sure that students are not falling behind in their learning and that they understand the curriculum. I also help with other tasks like prepping classroom materials, communicating with parents and assistance during tests.
My favorite part of the design process is taking the initial rough sketches and turning them into clean mock ups. It makes everything feel more real and polished. Because of my degree I have a lot of experience using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator as well as Figma so it’s pretty fun for me.
